Jeff project managed a large risk consulting engagement for Telstra. The project designed the risk operating model and the necessary transformation program to restructure the organisation into three Lines of Defence (LOD). This included assessing Telstra’s risk maturity, conducting an inventory of second LOD risk activities, developing a conceptual risk operating model, developing a risk appetite statement, designing the Chief Risk Office (structure and resourcing) and establishing a risk transition roadmap. The outcomes from this work were approved by the Board and will completely transform the way Telstra manages risk going forward.
Other Technology & Telecommunications work
For the Hawthorn Football Club’s online HawksNest store completed an assessment of the merchandising controls including stock purchasing, receipting, sales and cash handling and order dispatch. Review evaluated the governance supporting each major element in the supply chain, including contract management of outsourced suppliers. Added value through the creation of control environment diagnostic that covered inventory system IT security, online stock ordering catalogue, pricing, invoicing, payment receipting, stock management, stock picking, stock dispatch and sales returns.
- Jeff managed the data verification and due diligence process for the $1b listing on the ASX of Uecomm Ltd (now a part of Optus), a national fibre-optic network telco. Delivery of the transaction required strong project management with a heavy focus on relationships and formalising processes.
- Post Uecomm’s listing, JNW modeled the financial viability of technologies such as ethernet, ADSL, wireless, VoIP, etc. and conducted due diligence on data centres, ISPs and ebusiness applications.
- Developed a financial model covering each service/product, including projected revenues, expenditures and capital expenditure. The financial model created a monthly/three year forecast profit & loss statement, balance sheet and cashflow statement together with a summary sheet detailing key financial and operating ratios. It was used by Management to forecast, manage actual to budget, run scenarios, estimate working capital requirements and set prices for services.
